Mini Review: Smokin' Aces

This movie was a hit for me after rewatchin' it but I dun exactly know why, maybe because the concept of the movie was just very appealing. Basically, Buddy 'Aces' Israel gets a bounty on his head for one million dollars and attracts all these mercernaries, assassins and bounty hunters, all pinned against each other (includin the FBI) to get him. Each of the characters were unique and colourful. ('if ur thinkin colour ur an idiot')

Jeremy Piven plays as Buddy Israel and his acting so damn right awesome. I've only remember him in a few roles usually as a comedian but this movie shows his more than B grade comedian. 'I have not seen Entourage'. Ryan Reynolds always a pleasure to watch, his always done good little roles here and there and also alot of 'indy films' which I think this movie was. Chris Pine, who played one of the assassins, is the guy who played James T. Kirk in the 2009 Star Trek film, which I liked.

Overall, I give this movie 4 of spade out of 5

SMASH! Aftermath Meetup

'picture irrelevant'

Since most of us staff bonded at SMASH!, it was decided that we'd have a meet up.

Well, meet up at Norita and played games for a couple of hours, then moved to M9 for one game of pool, then to the food court at Sussex Centre for dinner, then mucked around at Darlin' Harbour's field and kids playgrounds an finally to Lindt Cafe. Day started at 2pm and ended for me at 10pm.

Mini Review: Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea

'So this movie was like 'The Little Mermaid' but without a villian.. ^,^'

It was major cute but it didn't really have a plot.

Capoeira

I was working at the Melody Markets today and one of the performances of the night is a Capoeira showcase. I don't get it, I just don't see it as a martial art cause they don't actually fight and I can't call it a dance either cause they don't really dance to the music.. I don't get it...

Inception

Christopher Nolan has directed so many great films, notable for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight but its the other movies his done that makes him more than just a comic-book-movie guy. His filmography isn't too big but are all five star quality pictures. The Prestige is one of my favourite films, Memento is a spectacle and his two other films, Following and Insomnia which I've yet to see, has also been praised.

His taking a break from the Batman series at the moment filming Inception. I am very much looking forward to this movie which is due to release 16th July 2010

'which is a damn long time'

with the teaser attached to Inglourious Basterds. Not much is known about the film yet except for the cast, which Leonardo DiCaprio is to lead and that the film is described "as a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind."

Gundam 00's XN Raiser Addon

I think the add on is being released on 25th August, I dunno... it just looks like a sweet accessory to the gundam, think it reminds me of Sword Impulse XD

Too bad this is just a 1/144 model.. hope it comes with the 1/60 Perfect Grade Gundam 00.. but unlikely

Movie Review: The Shining

The Shining is a 1980 horror movie and as James Rolfe (Cinemassacre) has said, the movie isn't shocking, gory or etc, its something else.. a psychologically mind messing movie. I think it has alot to do with the music. There is no way of explaining these things unless you've seen the movie and yeh, its one complete WTF moment after another.

Jack becomes the care taker for a hotel over the winter with his wife Wendy and son Danny. Either the pressure from work, isolation or haunting influence from the last care taker who murdered his family at the hotel, cause Jack to go on a murderist rampage.

Overall all, Id give it 3 head bashing out of 5
I didn't get it but somehow it is a great film.. I really give it props for the soundtrack.

What your thinking was exactly my thought, this 3 second scene was the most random thing in the entire movie

Cherudim Gundam

Took 4.5 hours to finish building the 1/100 Cherudim Gundam

La Cita

My friend Jess, who I know from dancing classes and also performed with me in the Australian Dance Festival, is taking a 6 month leave to the US tomorrow so there was a farewell party tonight to Lindt Cafe for dinner and then to La Cita to club.

I didn't have time to have dinner at Lindt Cafe so I only went to the dance club afterwards.

La Cita is a restaurant and a two level bar with dance floors and since it was thursday night, entry is free with level 2 focus on to Latin/Salsa that starts from 8:30pm and level 1 starts from 9:30pm with mainly Live Latin Band.

It was so much fun I can't really explain it, I still feeling like dancing now (Saturday night XD). There was only a few faults, one upstairs was always so full so I wasn't able to fully salsa, two downstairs was alright except it was open to outside where alot of people smoked, three finished early (1:30am) and I was told I was dressed too casual so I had to burrow a button shirt from Jess's friend.

'I was thinking of dressing more formal in the morning but then decided not to'

So, Tuesday night = Establishment Hotel, Thursday night = La Cita XD

In the last day of SMASH! I, out of line, spent most of my time in the Karaoke Room.

Yeh I ain't really got much to say about SMASH!, just had a good time with new and old friends.

SMASH! Day 1

As a volunteer, I was scheduled to work at the Hobby Co. 's Gundam workshop which provided 400 free 1/144 FG gundams from the 00 series. This was in celebration of Gundam's 30th Anniversary. Didn't exactly get a chance to enjoy the convention itself, only had an hour break to lunch.

For helping Hobby Co. they also gave me this, 1/100 HG Cherudim Gundam. Not exactly a 00 fan but a freebie's a freebie XD

SMASH! setup day

Setup day which mainly involved chair/table moving and a far amount of unloading of supplies.. Madman has so much crap >_<

First AUNSW session

Went to the Norita, the korean gaming/board game cafe and then dinner at some korean/jap place...
Anime fanatics love their japanese.. I for one am getting abit tired of having so much jap dinners
